Apostle Dr. Faith Walters:

A Beacon of Excellence in Mount Vernon and Beyond

In the heart of Mount Vernon, New York, a radiant light shines through the life and ministry of Apostle Dr. Faith A. Walters. As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Women & Men of Excellence Outreach Ministries (WAMOE), Dr. Walters has dedicated her life to empowering individuals for success in the Kingdom of God.

A Journey of Faith and Education

Dr. Walters' path to leadership is marked by a profound commitment to education and spiritual growth. She holds an Associate of Science degree in General Business Administration from Mercy College and both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from The City College of New York. Her academic pursuits laid a strong foundation for her 20-year tenure as a Special Education Teacher with the New York City Department of Education, where she touched countless lives with her dedication and compassion.

In February 2010, Dr. Walters was elevated to Apostleship and awarded honorary Doctorate and Master's degrees in Theology and Divinity from the Five-Fold School of Theology in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This spiritual milestone propelled her to establish WAMOE, a ministry envisioned to be a "church without walls," reaching individuals both locally and globally.

Empowering Through Outreach

Under Dr. Walters' visionary leadership, WAMOE has become a transformative force in the community. The ministry provides a range of services, including personal development resources, vocational training, and counseling, all designed to promote self-love and spiritual growth. With a focus on inclusivity and empowerment, WAMOE serves as a haven for those seeking guidance and support.

Dr. Walters's impact extends beyond the pulpit. She is a renowned author, singer-songwriter, and therapist, using her diverse talents to inspire and uplift others. Her commitment to community engagement is evident in initiatives like the "Live Prayer Line," where she offers spiritual support and encouragement to individuals across the globe.

A Legacy of Excellence

Dr. Walters' influence resonates not only in Mount Vernon but also in the broader spiritual community. Her dedication to fostering excellence and spiritual empowerment has earned her recognition and respect among peers and congregants alike. Through WAMOE, she continues to break barriers, offering a model of ministry that transcends traditional boundaries and embraces the digital age.

As a mother of three adult children, Dr. Walters embodies the principles she teaches, nurturing both her family and her community with unwavering love and commitment. Her journey stands as a testament to the power of faith, education, and service in transforming lives and building a legacy of excellence.

Closing Reflections on our series “Courage in the Midst of Adversity”

Our powerful teaching series on the Book of Ruth came to a close this month. Here’s a chapter-by-chapter reflection:

  • Ruth 1 – “Where you go, I will go”: Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi in a time of despair shows us that love and faithfulness often bloom in the soil of hardship.

  • Ruth 2 – Provision in the Fields: Ruth gleans in Boaz’s field, a symbol that God places divine favor in the ordinary spaces of our lives.

  • Ruth 3 – A Bold Step of Faith: Ruth’s nighttime approach to Boaz at the threshing floor teaches us that taking spirit-led risks can open the door to God’s promises.

  • Ruth 4 – From Widow to Legacy: Boaz redeems Ruth, leading to the birth of Obed—David’s grandfather—reminding us that God can write greatness into our endings.

Welcome to the April Edition of “The Excellence Chronicles.”

19th Church Anniversary – A Celebration of Excellence!

A Message From Our President

Reflections: Ruth, A Story of Courage & Redemption

March was a powerful journey through the Book of Ruth under the theme “Courage In The Midst Of Adversity.” We witnessed Ruth’s unwavering faith, Naomi’s wisdom, and Boaz’s kindness, leading to restoration and a divine turnaround. This series reminded us that God honors faithfulness and He will always provide a way, even when it seems all hope is gone. Even in your grief, never think that it’s the end of your life. Just remember, God has greater plans in store for you.

Your life isn’t over, you’re just turning over a new chapter in it. So just hold your head up high, stay focused and keep it moving. Your greater is coming forth. Alleluia!

So as we transition into April, we carry these lessons of resilience, trust, and divine positioning forward.

Heading #3: 19th Anniversary Celebration

The Essence of Faith

Faith is often described as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen, a profound statement that encapsulates the essence of belief and trust in the unseen. This definition suggests that faith serves as a foundational element, providing a tangible basis for our hopes and aspirations, even when they remain beyond our immediate perception. It is the driving force that encourages individuals to pursue their dreams and goals, instilling a sense of confidence that what they desire is attainable, despite the lack of visible proof. In this context, faith transcends mere wishful thinking; it embodies a deep-seated conviction that fuels perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges.

Today, we want to highlight a My Westchester featured story about how Black businessmen united to create a legacy that, though hidden for years, now resurfaces and illuminates the resilience and leadership of a community that often feels oppressed and marginalized. Here is their story, "Sun shines again on golf club's long-lost Black history".

"During the Great Migration, we're talking the late '30s, a Black group of investors banded together to create a golf and country club,"

Sharrock-Cole said.

Ossining village historian Joyce Sharrock-Cole was researching her own family history when she discovered a piece of lost history. Sharrock-Cole was researching her uncle Warren Sharrock, one of the early Black professional golfers, when she discovered that the county-owned Hudson Hills Golf Course had once been known as The Rising Sun Golf and Country Club. Even more, it was entirely owned and operated by Black businessmen from the area. In 1936, it was the first of its kind in Westchester County and one of the first in the tri-state area.

She explains the irony that

"Black people at the time weren't welcome into the banks. So, they weren't losing their money during the Great Depression. Their money was still with them."
