Prophetic Insight: When Religion Blinds Us to Justice

Reflection on John 5 and Modern-Day Legalism

While reflecting on John 5 — the story of the man healed at the pool of Bethesda — I was stirred by a deep personal connection. In this passage, Jesus heals a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years, yet the Jewish leaders were more concerned about Him “working” on the Sabbath than celebrating the miracle. Their religion had become more important than the healing. More important than the man.

This very mindset still exists today.

Back in 2015, I traveled to Kentucky for the very first time to attend my younger son’s military graduation. While staying at a hotel in the area, I experienced blatant racial discrimination — cold stares, a refusal to assist with basic needs, and a silence so loud it echoed through my spirit. I was a guest — a mother coming to support her child — and yet I was treated as if I didn’t belong. That pain still lingers. That memory sharpened my awareness.

It reminded me of the mysterious death of Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam, the first Black woman appointed to New York’s highest court. Her body was found in the Hudson River during Holy Week of 2017. Though it was ruled a suicide, many believe the story runs deeper. It’s yet another example of how so much in this country remains hidden in plain sight — especially when it involves the lives and truths of Black women.

So many religious organizations today are like the Jewish leaders in John 5 — clinging to the form of godliness, while denying the power and purpose of Jesus. They’ve become so heavenly-minded, they’re no earthly good. Rules, rituals, and outward appearances have blinded them to what really matters: justice, healing, mercy, truth.

This is why I speak out.

This is why I pray with discernment.

This is why I advocate.

Because like Jesus, I’ve chosen to be a disruptor of systems, a woman of faith with eyes wide open — not only to Heaven, but to the real needs of those around me.

Apostle Dr. Faith Wlaters Celebrates Another Year

This October, I step into a new year of life with a heart full of gratitude. Each birthday is more than candles and cake—it’s a sacred pause, a chance to look back at the chapters already written and to marvel at the faithfulness of God woven through every line of my story.

ree

Through trials and triumphs, through rejection and restoration, I have witnessed the Lord’s hand lifting me to places I never imagined. I stand today as living proof that chains can be broken, faith can be strengthened, and purpose can indeed be fulfilled.

As I embrace this new year, I hold fast to the promises of God:

  • “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” — Psalm 91:16

  • “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” — Jeremiah 29:11

These verses remind me that my life is not only preserved, but also directed—anchored in His peace, propelled by His purpose, and destined for fulfillment.

And to each of you who have prayed, encouraged, supported, and walked this journey alongside me—thank you. Your love is a reflection of God’s own kindness, and I do not take it for granted.

Videos of Birthday

May this new year not only be a season of blessings for me, but for all of us who believe in the power of faith, community, and God’s unchanging promises. Together, let us continue to rise, rejoice, and run with purpose.

Sister Georgie's Corner

This month on Sister Georgie inspired by the book, "Poems About My Self Esteem".

Sis Georgie’s Journey – October Highlights

Sis Georgie’s self-love journey, utilizing the book “Poems About My Self-Esteem,” inspires us all to embrace God’s design with boldness and authenticity.

This month’s lessons include:

Healing from Rejection – Finding security in Christ alone.

Breaking Cycles of People-Pleasing – Walking free from opinions.

Beauty in Brokenness – Viewing scars as evidence of survival and God’s grace.

Courage in Adversity – Turning trials into stepping stones.

Sister Georgie’s Corner

This month’s focus: building confidence in families and children.

1. Speak life daily – Words carry power; use them to uplift.

2. Model self-love – Children learn by watching how we treat ourselves.

3. Practice family affirmations – Set aside a moment to declare God’s truth together.

4. Celebrate small wins – Growth deserves recognition, no matter how small.

Enjoy Apostle Dr. Faith Walters’ Weekly Storytelling Feature – Sister Georgie ✨

📖 Every Saturday at 9 a.m.

Join Apostle Dr. Faith Walters as Sister Georgie

Apostle Dr. Faith Walters brings Sister Georgie to life, weaving stories from her book Poems About My Self-Esteem. Through powerful storytelling infused with biblical inspiration, parents are guided on a journey to heal the child within so they can show up as sources of positive influence and unconditional love for their children.

This weekly feature is more than storytelling — it’s self-love advocacy. It’s a space where faith, healing, and hope meet to transform families from the inside out.

Because when parents heal, children thrive.

Reboot Topic: How NOT to Raise Children With a Sense of Entitlement

In today’s world, troubling headlines show us children committing violent acts against their parents. Sadly, many of these stories reveal a pattern: children who were given everything, until the moment a parent finally said no.

When love is misapplied as overindulgence, children may grow up expecting more than they give. But true self-love and confidence are rooted in responsibility, gratitude, and humility.

Here are a few “reboot” strategies for parents:

  • Teach Gratitude Early – Encourage children to say “thank you” often and to notice blessings in both the small and big things.

  • Balance Love with Responsibility – Love deeply, but also assign age-appropriate chores so they learn effort and contribution matter.

  • Say No Sometimes – Boundaries teach discipline. Patience and contentment are born when every request isn’t automatically fulfilled.

  • Model Service – Let them see you serving others. Invite them to join — whether it’s helping a neighbor, sharing with siblings, or volunteering as a family.

Building Character, Not Entitlement

As we revisit how we raise our children, the goal is to equip them not with entitlement but with gratitude, humility, and strong character. Teach responsibility, accountability, and respect for themselves and others. Most importantly, teach them about the Lord Jesus Christ. When you ask His guidance, He will lead you.

Children need the basics: food, shelter, education, love, and attention. Anything beyond that is a privilege — something to be earned through extra chores or work. Parents are called to meet needs, not endless wants.

That’s why tough love matters: the courage to say “No,” the wisdom to set rules, and the consistency to enforce rewards and consequences. This equips children to navigate the real world they will one day step into.

✨ With God’s guidance and intentional parenting, we can raise children who are not driven by entitlement but by gratitude, humility, and faith.
